A pink or magenta tint means the green channel has dropped out: white turns pink, greys turn purple.

Test it now

Full-screen white shows the tint plainly; full-screen grey shows whether it is even (signal) or worse at one edge (panel ageing). Then the external-monitor check: normal outside means cable or panel; pink outside means driver or graphics chip.

What it is

A pink or magenta tint means the green channel has dropped out: white turns pink, greys turn purple. The causes are the same family as a green screen — the display cable through the hinge, a graphics driver, or a colour filter — plus one panel fault: an ageing panel's backlight or polariser can drift pink or yellow at the edges. A solid pink screen with no image is the graphics chip or a crashed driver.

Can it be fixed?

Usually yes. Filters and drivers: minutes. Cable: a small repair. Panel drift at the edges: no, but it is cosmetic and slow. Graphics chip: motherboard-level repair.

What to do

  1. Turn off colour filters and Night Light; restart.
  2. Reinstall or roll back the graphics driver.
  3. External monitor check, then the lid-tilt check for the cable.
  4. Cable repair, or a panel quote if the tint is uneven and only at the edges.

What a repair costs

United States$100–300 for a new panel (parts $50–150 plus labour); budget and 1080p panels at the low end, touch and high-refresh panels at the high end
India₹3,000–8,000 for a new panel at an independent repair shop; ₹6,000–15,000 at the brand service centre

Warranty

Most makers replace a panel under warranty for physical panel faults that are not accidental damage; pressure marks, cracks and liquid damage are treated as accidental and are not covered. For dead pixels, each brand has a threshold (typically 3–5 bright or 5–8 dark pixels on a laptop; Dell's premium-panel guarantee replaces at one bright pixel).
