Why is my laptop screen green?
A green tint over the whole screen — or a screen that is entirely green — almost always means one colour channel is missing or one is stuck on, and that is a signal problem, not a panel defect: the display cable through the hinge has worked loose or a pin has failed, a graphics driver has misconfigured the colour output, or a colour filter (Night Light, a colour profile, a screen-reader filter) is on.
Test it now
Full-screen white: a tint that makes white look green is a missing red/blue channel or a filter. Then plug in an external monitor or TV — if the picture there is normal, the fault is the laptop's cable or panel connector; if it is green there too, it is the driver or graphics chip.

Can it be fixed?
Usually yes, and often without a repair shop. Filters and drivers are fixed in settings; a loose cable is a small repair. Only when the external monitor is also green and a driver reinstall does not change it is the graphics chip at fault, which on most laptops means the motherboard.
What to do
- Turn off Night Light / Night Shift, colour filters (Windows: Settings → Accessibility → Colour filters; Mac: System Settings → Accessibility → Display) and any colour-management app, then restart.
- Update the graphics driver, or roll it back if the tint began after an update. On Windows, press Win+Ctrl+Shift+B to restart the graphics driver.
- External monitor check: normal picture outside means the display cable or panel connector — gently tilt the lid and watch the tint change to confirm.
- Cable: repair shop, about an hour. Same tint on the external monitor after a driver reinstall: the graphics chip; get a motherboard quote before deciding.

Warranty
Most makers replace a panel under warranty for physical panel faults that are not accidental damage; pressure marks, cracks and liquid damage are treated as accidental and are not covered. For dead pixels, each brand has a threshold (typically 3–5 bright or 5–8 dark pixels on a laptop; Dell's premium-panel guarantee replaces at one bright pixel).
