Why is my phone screen green?
A green tint over the whole phone screen — or a screen that goes fully green — has two very different causes.
Test it now
Full-screen white at 100% brightness, then at 10%. A tint only at low brightness is the OLED driver (software). A tint at all brightness levels, or a fixed line, is the panel. Turn off any colour filter, Night Light, eye-comfort or reading mode first.
What it is
A green tint over the whole phone screen — or a screen that goes fully green — has two very different causes. On OLED phones (Samsung Galaxy, OnePlus, Pixel, iPhone X and later) a green tint at low brightness, or after an update, is the display driver and is common enough that several makers have pushed software fixes for it; a thin vertical green line that appears from nowhere is a failed panel connection, a known fault on some Samsung and OnePlus models that the makers have repaired free in India under service campaigns. On LCD phones a green tint is the display cable or a colour filter setting.
Can it be fixed?
Sometimes. Software tint: update the phone, turn off colour filters and adaptive brightness, restart. Green line: no — the panel is replaced; check whether your model is covered by a free repair campaign before paying. Cable on an LCD phone: a small repair.
What to do
- Settings → Display: turn off Night Light / eye comfort / colour filters; set colour mode to Natural.
- Install any pending system update; restart.
- Test on white at low and high brightness.
- For a green line: search "
green line service campaign" and visit the brand service centre with the phone.

Warranty
Most makers replace a panel under warranty for physical panel faults that are not accidental damage; pressure marks, cracks and liquid damage are treated as accidental and are not covered. For dead pixels, each brand has a threshold (typically 3–5 bright or 5–8 dark pixels on a laptop; Dell's premium-panel guarantee replaces at one bright pixel).
