Discoloration of mobile screen
Discolouration on a mobile screen means the colour is wrong in one area, not everywhere: a yellow or brown patch, a blue or purple edge, a dim corner, a pink blotch.

Full-screen white shows the patch and its true edges. Grey shows dim areas and burn-in ghosts. Black shows whether the area also glows (backlight) or vanishes (OLED/adhesive).
What it is
Discolouration on a mobile screen means the colour is wrong in one area, not everywhere: a yellow or brown patch, a blue or purple edge, a dim corner, a pink blotch. On OLED it is the organic layer: heat (yellow, at the bottom), pressure (blue or purple, anywhere), or burn-in (the shape of an app element). Can it be fixed?
Heat, pressure and burn-in discolouration: no. Films and adhesive on an LCD: a shop can sometimes reseat the diffuser or re-laminate; usually a panel is quoted. A patch that arrived with no drop or heat is a panel fault and a warranty claim.
What to do
- White, grey, black in full screen; photograph on white.
- Shape of an app element → burn-in.
- Corner or edge after a drop → pressure; not covered, live with it or replace.
- No cause and in warranty → claim it as a panel fault.

Warranty
Most makers replace a panel under warranty for physical panel faults that are not accidental damage; pressure marks, cracks and liquid damage are treated as accidental and are not covered. For dead pixels, each brand has a threshold (typically 3–5 bright or 5–8 dark pixels on a laptop; Dell's premium-panel guarantee replaces at one bright pixel).
